Greatness

Had the opportunity to see DMB last night at Cricket Pavillion. It was my first DMB show and probably my only one but I have to say that the 2 1/2 hour show he put on was pure gold.

P.S. Dear Sam Houston State,

Please beat Oklahoma State this weekend after the horrible showing from Tech

Pretty Big Win vs. Bears

I guess we'll have to see what this team is made of when they match up with the Patriots in October. Looks like my initial pre-season predictions were off, 2 weeks straight. Enjoy Cowboy fan.

Gig 'Em......Or Not!

Maybe the biggest homer prediction ever.

From The Battallion:

Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies will have one of the best offenses in the Big 12, and one of the most experienced. They will take care of the preseason schedule, including winning at Miami, and they will finally beat the Red Raiders in Lubbock......

Pretty bold.

Go build a bonfire............

Two Great Fridays

Mark your calendars accordingly for some happenin' live music the next two Fridays:

Fri., Sept. 21st - Goodwin @ The Moon Bar on Berry St. in Funkytown. Best damn live band in Fort Worth, straight up. And the Moon has been expanded.

Fri., Sept. 28th - The Theater Fire @ The Wreck Room off 7th. Final Wreck Room performances that weekend folks, so come by and get your groove on... or set the building on fire. Get it...fire? Dad.

(thanks to Simon and Liz for showing me a good time last Saturday. I needed it after a rather trying week. For those interested, old Mary is adjusting well.)

In Memoriam - Casper

( RIP 9/14/07)
For you I write or pen a song
I am truly blessed you lived so long
I suffer mixed emotions sending you off
To keep you here or give you to God
Choose to remember me as you were young
I know I'll try the same my son
You leave behind an aging girl
For whom I'll love more than the world
God Bless good boy

Bad News

As many of you have heard, Carter Albrecht, guitarist and keyboardist of Dallas's Sorta, was killed late Monday night. Apparently he was shot by his neighbor after a supposed altercation with his girlfriend. Though I never met Carter, I always considered those guys one of the premier Texas acts. Listening to Danny on The Ticket this afternoon was rough. I hope I don't ever experience something like this. More on Gordon Keith's site.
